With our dog, Bowie, who thinks he needs to be in every photo.
Throughout my career, I’ve been drawn to complex enterprise apps and early-stage startups, where I’ve led small teams, or worked as the sole designer. I enjoy the challenge of creating the overall design vision and the sense of responsibility and accomplishment that those roles provided.
Because of the fluid nature of new products, I’ve learned to design for scalability, anticipating advanced features, partnerships, and acquisition integrations. Many of the products I’ve designed have been platform ecosystems: At American Family, our goal was to host all of the business and farm insurance products on one, seamless quoting platform, and license it to other insurers. And in addition to our social features at TeachStreet, we created tools that allowed users to operate a business through our product.
When I’m not staring into a computer screen, I enjoy reading, music, concerts, home renovation projects, and spending time with my wife, daughter, and dog. And like so many others, I was drawn to the Pacific Northwest for access to hiking and camping that somehow never actually happens!
